The Parish Church on The Green is dedicated to St. Mary. Times of services are published in the Parish Magazine and on notice boards in the churchyard. The Rector is the Revd. Clive Barlow. The Rectory is situated at the south west corner of The Green, opposite the red telephone box.

The Salvation Army Citadel, Shalmsford Street, was established in 1889. Services are held every Sunday, morning at times published in the Parish Magazine. There is a Band, Junior Band, and Choir. The Youth Club meets on a Tuesday evening from 5.30 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. for the 5 to 10 year olds, 7.00 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. for the rising 11’s to 16. 8.30 p.m. - 9.45 p.m. for 16 + years.
