Chartham Primary School is a Kent County Council Primary school situated in Shalmsford Street and accommodates over 270 pupils from age 4 to 11.
Set in six acres of grounds and with excellent facilities the school takes
pupils from a wide catchment area including Chartham Hatch where children are
transported by bus. The school has close links with the Firs Nursery and the school also runs a thriving After School Club five days a week.

Firs Nursery, a school run nursery with qualified staff, is also situated at the Primary School. It takes children from two and a half years to school age during term time and operates two sessions a day - 9.00 am to 12 noon and 12.15 pm to 3.15 pm Monday to Friday. It also has a special “Fours” day on Thursdays for four year old children to have pre school sessions on their own.

Set in the valley on the Petham side of the Parish at Perry Court is Canterbury Steiner School, taking about 230 pupils from the age of 3 to 18.
